CWB Marriage Seminar Speakers…
Vern Matthews, Elder
Vern was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. He came to faith in Jesus as a middle-schooler, after hearing the gospel preached regularly in his local church. Vern attended college at the University of Mary Washington. It was during his time as a college student that the Lord began to impress upon his heart a deeper passion for God's glory and the local church. The Lord placed an unshakeable desire in Vern's heart to serve the local church in pastoral ministry. To that end, Vern furthered his studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master of Arts in Christian Studies.
Vern has been married to his wife Sam since 2013, and they have two amazing kids, Asher and Ella. In 2018, Vern and Sam followed the Lord's prompting, coming to Philadelphia with a desire to love the city and be a part of planting churches.
Samantha Matthews, MA, LPC
Samantha received her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of the Cumberlands and her BA from The University of Mary Washington. Her experience includes working in outpatient community mental health providing comprehensive trauma treatment, and at a domestic violence agency providing individual and group counseling for survivors of family and intimate partner violence. Samantha also has previous experience in outpatient addiction treatment. Samantha and her husband Vernon are on the leadership team at Redemption City Church in Fairmount.
Vernon and Samantha will be speaking about “The Glory of God in Our Marriages.”
Topics include: Shared Vision, Connection, Curiosity, Communication, Conflict, and Community.
